Creating Concepts

Coming up to the end of the year it's time to think about some new game ideas, as we are not a franchise it is up to us to create concepts, stories, and puzzles ourselves.  To some people this may seem like a daunting task and to be honest creating a game from scratch is not an easy thing to do but it is something that we enjoy.

Recently we replaced our very first game (Hostage) with our new game Cirque Du Slay:MoMo's CarnEvil, the process was to be a quick one as we always work to tight time schedules.
We thought we would take the circus theme and darken it a bit, as with all our games there is always an undertone of darkness and creepiness, just how we like it!

Cirque Du Slay:MoMo's CarnEvil is Leicester's first and only circus themed game which is also a factor we take into consideration, as escape rooms are all different themes we like to offer something that is different to others in the area to give customers the greatest variety of rooms on their doorstep.

Another important thing for us to consider are the characters, from our experience there are very few escape rooms in the country that have a clue delivery system like ours, certainly none within Leicester.  Most escape rooms will have a computer within the game or give you an iPad to scan on QR codes to get a clue, we find these are not as effective.  There are times where you will be on the right track with a puzzle but needed a little help, you scan the QR code and the clue tells you what you already know, what now? Room Escape Artist wrote about the problems HERE.

This is why we create characters for each game, so the customer has direct contact with the character themselves, we can watch everything that happens in the game and know exactly what point you're at and can tailor clues to each and every person and situation, plus you get to hear our best attempts at various accents!

In the coming days we will share each step along the way of creating a game, broken down in to 4 parts, each part more fascinating than the next!

See you soon
